The price of a new set of wheels actually dropped a little in March, the last month for which data is available. But according to Car and Driver, the average buyer still pays more than $48,000 for a new vehicle.

With that kind of sticker price, drivers want to squeeze every possible mile out of their investment.

A new study from iSeeCars profiled the vehicles that endure the rigors of the road better than all the rest. The study analyzed more than 260 million cars sold between 2012 and 2022 and identified those with at least a 20% chance of clocking a quarter-million miles on the odometer. The likelihood of the average vehicle reaching 250,000 miles is just 11.8%.

GOBankingRates chose the top 15, weeded out a handful that were discontinued along the way and included the MSRP for the current model year.

Trucks dominate the list, but a few cars, SUVs and luxury vehicles demonstrated impressive longevity, too.

Are you looking for a vehicle that can stand the test of time? Presuming you drive 15,000 miles per year, every model on this list has a better than one in four chance of getting you from here to there until nearly 2040.
