November marks National Adoption Awareness Month, a celebration created to raise awareness for children living in foster care. Local programs, events and even online communities come together to draw attention to thousands of children waiting to be adopted.

Actress Angelina Jolie is a frugal celebrity and no stranger to adoption. She adopted her son Maddox when he was just 7 months old from Cambodia, according to People magazine. In 2005, she adopted a baby girl named Zahara from Ethiopia. Brad Pitt adopted both Maddox and Zahara in 2006, reported CNN. Jolie then adopted her third child, Pax, from Vietnam in 2007, according to People.
Together, Pitt and Jolie have six children, including biological daughter Shiloh and biological twins Knox and Vivienne. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, but final custody arrangements have yet to be determined.

Both were adopted as infants — Isabella in 1992 and Connor in 1995.

Sandra Bullock adopted her first son, Louis Bardo, in 2010. Bullock began the adoption process with her then-husband Jesse James, but after a scandal broke out surrounding James’ affairs, Bullock continued the adoption process on her own, according to People.
Bullock expanded her family in 2015 by adopting 3-year-old Laila, who had been in foster care in Louisiana. Louis is now 6 years old and Laila is 4.

Australian actor Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, have two adopted children. They adopted their first son, Oscar, in 2000. Five years later, they added another child to the mix — this time an adopted daughter named Ava Eliot. Oscar is now 16 years old and Ava is 11.
