Angelina Jolie

Net Worth: $160 Million

Actress Angelina Jolie is a frugal celebrity and no stranger to adoption. She adopted her son Maddox when he was just 7 months old from Cambodia, according to People magazine. In 2005, she adopted a baby girl named Zahara from Ethiopia. Brad Pitt adopted both Maddox and Zahara in 2006, reported CNN. Jolie then adopted her third child, Pax, from Vietnam in 2007, according to People.

Together, Pitt and Jolie have six children, including biological daughter Shiloh and biological twins Knox and Vivienne. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, but final custody arrangements have yet to be determined.


Net Worth: $800 Million

Madonna is a mother to four children — Lourdes, age 20, Rocco, age 16, David Banda, age 11, and Mercy James, age 10. The Material Girl’s youngest two children were adopted from Malawi. She adopted David Banda with ex-husband Guy Richie in 2006, when he was 13 months old, and adopted Mercy as a single parent in 2009.

“I applied to an international adoption agency and went through all the bureaucracy, testing, and waiting that everyone else goes through when they adopt,” Madonna told Harper’s Bazaar in 2013. “As fate would have it, in the middle of this process a woman reached out to me from a small country in Africa called Malawi and told me about the millions of children orphaned by AIDS. Before you could say ‘Zikomo Kwambiri,’ I was in the airport in Lilongwe heading to an orphanage in Mchinji, where I met my son David.”

Tom Cruise

Net Worth: $550 Million

Tom Cruise is one of the wealthiest actors in Hollywood, and has a biological daughter, 10-year-old Suri, with Katie Holmes. But prior to his relationship with Holmes, Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman adopted two children: now 23-year-old Isabella Cruise and 21-year-old Connor Cruise. Both were adopted as infants — Isabella in 1992 and Connor in 1995.

“From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies,” Kidman told Vanity Fair. “And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella.”

Charlize Theron

Net Worth: $120 Million

Charlize Theron is no stranger to adoption either. “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” actress adopted her son, Jackson, from South Africa in 2012 and, in 2015, she adopted an African-American girl born in the U.S. named August.

Theron’s two adopted children are her only children. Jackson turns 5 years old in November 2016 and August is 1 year old.

Sandra Bullock

Net Worth: $200 Million

Sandra Bullock adopted her first son, Louis Bardo, in 2010. Bullock began the adoption process with her then-husband Jesse James, but after a scandal broke out surrounding James’ affairs, Bullock continued the adoption process on her own, according to People.

Bullock expanded her family in 2015 by adopting 3-year-old Laila, who had been in foster care in Louisiana. Louis is now 6 years old and Laila is 4.

Hugh Jackman

Net Worth: $150 Million

Australian actor Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, have two adopted children. They adopted their first son, Oscar, in 2000. Five years later, they added another child to the mix — this time an adopted daughter named Ava Eliot. Oscar is now 16 years old and Ava is 11.

Jackman and his wife aren’t planning on adding any more children to their family. “Our family is the most important thing to us, but we travel so much that we fear if we have more kids, it’ll be too much,” Jackman told Parade magazine in 2009.

Cate Blanchett

Net Worth: $75 Million

In 2015, Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett added an adopted baby girl to her family of five — now six. Blanchett and her husband, screenwriter Andrew Upton, were already parents to three sons — Dashiell, Roman and Ignatius — before adopting Edith Vivian Patricia.

“It’s wonderful to welcome a little girl into our fold,” Blanchett reportedly said, according to People. “We’re besotted.”

Katherine Heigl

Net Worth: $20 Million

Adoption has been a big part of Katherine Heigl’s life, which might be the reason why she chose adoption prior to having a biological child of her own. Us Weekly reported that before the “Grey’s Anatomy” star was born, her parents adopted her older sister in South Korea.

Heigl and her husband, singer Josh Kelley, adopted a little girl from South Korea named Naleigh in 2009 — now 7 years old. Three years later, the couple adopted their second daughter in the U.S., Adalaide, now age 4.

In June 2016, Heigl and Kelly confirmed to People that their family will be expanding again. Heigl is currently pregnant with a boy, due in January 2017.

Sharon Stone

Net Worth: $60 Million

Actress Sharon Stone, known for her roles in “Basic Instinct” and “Casino,” adopted her first son, Roan, in 2000 when he was one week old — along with her then-husband Phil Bronstein. In 2005, she adopted her son Laird as an infant and a year later adopted her third son, Quinn. These days, Roan is age 16, Laird is 11 and Quinn is 10.

Answering reader questions for People magazine in 2006, Stone said she’s not planning on having any more kids. “I think we’re good,” she said. “Three is a wonderful number. I can’t say for sure because you never know. Life is life.”

Meg Ryan adopted a girl, Daisy True, from China in 2006, and now she’s 11 years old. Already a mom to son Jack Quaid — now 24 years old — Ryan was introduced to Daisy by a lottery system in which Daisy was randomly assigned to her, reported People.

Jillian Michaels

Net Worth: $14 Million

Personal trainer and TV personality Jillian Michaels adopted a 2-year-old girl, Lukensia, from Haiti in May 2012 with her partner Heidi Rhoades, reported People. That same week, Rhoades gave birth to the couple’s son, Phoenix.

“Adoption is a calling,” Michaels told People in 2012. “You just know in the deepest part of your being that you are meant to find this little soul and guide them through life.”

Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer adopted a baby girl, Claudia Rose, in 1993 as a single parent, according to E! Online. She told Good Housekeeping she had been dating her current husband, David E. Kelley, for only about two months prior to adopting her daughter — but Kelley happily hopped on board. The couple gave birth to a biological son, John Henry, just one year later. Both kids are all grown up now — Claudia Rose is 23 years old and John Henry is 22.

Pfeiffer’s net worth is $80 million, and Kelley’s net worth is a whopping $250 million, giving the couple a combined net worth of $330 million.

Mariska Hargitay

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star Mariska Hargitay gave birth to her first child — son August — with her husband Peter Hermann in 2006, but the couple decided to expand their family through adoption. In 2011, they adopted their daughter Amaya and, six months later, adopted a second son, Andrew. August is now 10 years old and Amaya and Andrew are both 5.

“I really did think that down the line, Peter and I would adopt a child,” Hargitay said in an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2012. “That was always part of the plan.”

Viola Davis

Along with her husband, Julius Tennon, Viola Davis adopted her daughter Genesis in October 2011. Octavia Spencer, her co-star from “The Help,” broke the news while presenting Davis with an award at the Elle Women in Hollywood gala.

The happy news shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise, as Davis confirmed to E! News two months prior that the couple was about to adopt. Genesis is now 6 years old.

Denise Richards

Already a mom of two daughters, Denise Richards adopted her third daughter, Eloise Joni, in 2011 — and now she’s 5 years old. Richards’ two other daughters — Sam, born in 2004, and Lola, born in 2005 — are from her ex-husband, actor Charlie Sheen. Richards adopted Eloise as a single parent, however.

Connie Britton

In 2011, Connie Britton adopted her son Yoby — a nickname taken from his given name Eyob — from Ethiopia as a single parent. Four years later, the actress is loving being a mom to her now 5-year-old boy and even referred to her son as her best companion in an interview with People.
