Social media users horrified by tourist’s ‘life-risking’ photo: ‘Is she insane?’

A tourist in Brazil has social media users on the edge of their seats after she was caught posing for a “life-threatening” photo.

The woman, who remains unidentified, was caught sitting at the edge of a cliff on Pedra da Gávea, a nearly 3,000-foot mountain near Rio de Janeiro, according to Lad Bible.

Her death-defying pose was originally captured in a video by Twitter user @gnuman1979 before being shared to the popular Instagram account Influencers in the Wild, where it went viral.

“This made my butthole tighten up REAL good,” the account wrote in sharing the clip, which received more than 1 million views during its first 24 hours online.

The video shows the woman scooted to the edge of the mountainside, with just a few feet between her and a massive drop as she poses for a photo. Toward the very end of the footage, she can even be seen scooting forward slightly as she adjusts herself.

It was a moment that caused deep anxiety for plenty of Instagram users.

“Literally makes me nauseous,” one commenter wrote.

“This is giving me so much anxiety. Why?” another added.

“Is she insane?” another commenter asked.

Others, however, were a bit more jovial, suggesting that there could’ve been a better way to capture the moment.

“I hear photoshop is a great alternative to death,” one commenter joked.

The viral moment is just the latest example of people going to extreme lengths for a memorable photo — many of which are captured on the account, Influencers in the Wild.

Some instances have even resulted in jail time. Last month, a man was briefly jailed in Egypt for climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza, an illegal feat he captured in full on his Instagram and YouTube account.
