There may be a time when you do have to step outside to get groceries. And there won’t always be a sink and soap nearby. With hand sanitizer becoming an everyday essential, more hand sanitizer brands and products have sprouted. But this one germ-killing brand is alcohol-free.

Alcohol is found in a lot of beauty products already. However, certain alcohols aren’t necessarily good for the skin if you use too much. GermBloc, however, is an alcohol-free skin sanitation brand that offers several different forms of hand sanitizer. The CDC says that hand sanitizer should contain at least 60 percent alcohol, and GermBlock states that its line of sanitization products are FDA, CDC and WHO compliant and conform to hygiene protocol.

The brand’s alcohol-free hand sanitizer lineup includes the lotion sanitizer plus a smartphone cleaning kit to keep your phone spotless. All of the products are made with 98 percent natural ingredients and kills 99 percent of germs. Plus, the hand sanitization products don’t dry out the skin like many alcohol-based hand sanitizers. They all contain seven moisturizers and six more botanical moisturizers, but it should be reapplied every four hours for effectiveness.

Solvent-type alcohols are great to absorb oils in the skin. On the other hand, they can also take out the moisture already in your skin. “Because they break down grease, [solvent alcohols] can break down the lipids in the outer barrier of our skin” Melissa Piliang, M.D., a Cleveland Clinic dermatologist told SELF Magazine.

One customer said they had struggled to find hand sanitizer, but once they found GermBloc, they said “It’s a non-greasy formula and clean smelling. It does not dry the hands like alcohol-based sanitizers.” However, a customer who shopped the product on Amazon said the sanitizer still left their hands feeling dry. If you want to skip the lotion after the sanitizer stage, this may be the right germ-killing alternative.
