250-Pound Sea Turtle Rescued After Wandering Into Backyard Pool

A massive sea turtle looking to beat the heat wandered into a Florida family's backyard swimming pool, where she remained until she could be rescued.

The 250-pound creature found itself in the pool at the Florida Keys residence after authorities believe she came on shore to lay eggs and became confused about the location.

Officials from the nearby Turtle Hospital examined her and determined she was healthy enough to be released back into the Atlantic Ocean, to which they gave her an escort.

It is nesting season for turtles in the Florida Keys between now and October so homeowners may want to check their pools for unwanted guests before diving in.
