Katharine Gallagher of Tustin, California, left work sick with flu symptoms on Friday, December 1, and died just a few days later, People reports. According to her mother, Liz Gallagher, Katharine was working as a server at Tustin Brewing Company when she began to experience a fever, diarrhoea, cold sweats, body aches, and nausea.

“I asked her if she would like to go to the doctor, and, as a typical young person, she said she was fine and that she was just exhausted, and needed sleep,” Liz told People. “She felt the same way on Saturday when I talked to her, but by then, she really had an issue with nausea, dizziness and coughing.”

Liz said she urged her daughter to get help, and Katharine obliged. While at an urgent care center, doctors prescribed Katharine antibiotics and gave her fluids through an IV to help her stay hydrated. Liz told People the medications helped, but only for a few days. By Tuesday, Katharine's condition worsened and she was having difficulty breathing.

Many shots and many IVs later ]]>🙄😷
