3 Stocks Gain on Thursday

Shares of Sage Therapeutics Inc. (SAGE) skyrocketed on Thursday after releasing positive results from a phase 2 clinical trial assessing SAGE-217, which treats adult patients with moderate to severe major depressive disorder.

"These very encouraging data suggest the potential of SAGE-217 in the treatment of MDD as well as other mood-related disorders that we may pursue," CEO Jeff Jonas, M.D., said.


Shares of Tailored Brands Inc. (TLRD) traded higher after reporting financial results for the third quarter, which ended Oct. 28.

The company posted adjusted EPS of 52 cents on revenue of $810.8 million, beating earnings expectations by four cents and revenue estimates by $3.3 million.

The gross margin was $358.8 million, a decrease of $18.4 million as a result of minor corporate apparel net sales. As a percentage of sales, the gross margin decreased 30 basis points to 44.2%.

CEO Doug Ewert was pleased with the advances made during the quarter.

"We posted positive comparable sales at Jos. A. Bank and sequential comparable sales improvement at Men"s Wearhouse and K&G," he said, "resulting in our second consecutive quarter of positive comparable sales for our retail segment. Based on solid third quarter results and a good start to the fourth quarter, we have increased our EPS outlook for the year".

Looking ahead, guidance is solid. The company expects GAAP diluted EPS between $1.80 and $1.85 and adjusted diluted EPS in the range of $2.03 to $2.08.

Shares of NCI Building Systems Inc. (NCS) jumped on quarterly results. Third-quarter EPS of 32 cents fell 10 cents short of expectations, but revenue of $488.73 million beat estimates of $477.13 million.

Gross profit reached $115.0 million, 24.5% of revenues, an improvement from $128 million, or 27.7%, in the prior-year quarter.

For the next quarter, the company expects revenues to be between $470 million and $500 million. The adjusted EBITDA is projected to range from $48 million to $62 million.
