4th of July drone show in Palm Springs canceled for Saturday night

A laser show was staged in Ruth Hardy Park as part of the City of Palm Springs' Independence Day celebrations on July 4, 2021.

The drone show planned for Saturday night at Palm Springs Downtown Park has been canceled due to forecasted high winds. The show was planned to use 200 single drones flying 400 feet above ground level.

The drones cannot fly in winds above 13 mph. With winds anticipated at 22 mph at the time of the show, the city decided to cancel for the safety of the community, according to the city.

The drone show will be rescheduled for Sept. 11, 2022.

A live concert is going on as planned. Other Fourth of July holiday activities that are still happening in Palm Springs:

  • Sunday, July 3: “The Goonies” in Ruth Hardy Park, 700 Tamarisk Road, 7:30 p.m.

  • Monday, July 4: Pool party at the Palm Springs Swim Center, 405 S. Pavilion Way, featuring water games, inflatable slide, music, and great food, 3 p.m. - until the fireworks are over. Watch the City’s “All American Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular” at Palm Springs Stadium from the pool!

  • Monday, July 4: Concert in the Park featuring “Turn the Page, Tribute to Bob Seger” in Sunrise Park, 480 S. Sunrise Way, 5:30 p.m.

  • Monday, July 4: Palm Springs Power Baseball "All Stars Summer Collegiate Game," Palm Springs Stadium, 1901 Baristo Road, 6 p.m.

  • Monday, July 4: "All American Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular" at Palm Springs Stadium, 1901 Baristo Road, 9:15 p.m.
