5 Top Retail Earnings Charts

Earnings season is winding down, but this week there’s over 600 companies that are set to report. Earnings season isn’t quite over yet.

The retailers always report at the end of the earnings season and this week is no exception. There are at least a dozen retail names reporting earnings including Macy’s, Nordstrom and Kohl’s along with many specialty retailers like the Gap.

But Tracey put together a list of the top 5 names you need to be watching because everyone else on the Street will be too.

Is the worst over in retail?

5 Top Retail Earnings Charts for This Week

1.    Lowe’s LOW doesn’t have the pristine earnings beat track record that its competitor Home Depot has but shares have finally broken out of the narrow range and are trading near 5-year highs. With the US economy humming along, will Lowe’s as well?

2.    TJX Companies TJX is more than just Marshall’s and TJ Maxx, it also owns the Home Goods chain. Home Goods is one of the few retailers that doesn’t sell products online. You have to go to the brick and mortar store to purchase. That hasn’t hurt sales as it has had one of the strongest same-store-sales comps in the industry. Did it keep up the momentum in the last holiday quarter?

3.    L Brands LB has struggled as its premier brand, Pink, has slowly gotten off trend. The company was also hurt more than expected from its decision to stop selling swimwear. Shares have rebounded off the lows. Is the worst finally over?

4.    Best Buy BBY continues to defy all of those who said they would not survive. They’re still very much alive and aren’t being Amazoned. Shares are trading near a 5-year high despite reporting a rare earnings miss last quarter.

5.    J.C. Penney JCP has been left for dead as investors still aren’t convinced it can make it. It has only missed twice since 2015, however, so it has a solid earnings surprise track record. But it’s really about everything else, including same-store-sales, store closures and inventory. Everyone will be watching this report on Friday morning. You should be too.

Don’t Even Think About Buying Bitcoin Until You Read This
