The 52-Week Low Club for Tuesday

August 26, 2014: Among the 23 stocks making new 52-week lows today were the following four firms:

Ampio Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMPE) dropped nearly 5%% on Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $4.82. The company’s shares started dropped 24% last Thursday following a delay in a STEP study for its osteoarthritis drug. Share volume is about double the daily average of around 840,000. The stock’s 52-week high is $10.86.

Eclipse Resources Corp. (ECR) slipped another 2.4% today, adding to a decline of about 3% on Monday to post another new 52-week low of $17.26 compared with the stock’s 52-week high of $27.18. The high was posted on Eclipse’s IPO date and the stock is down more than 36% since the June 20th IPO. Volume is again about half the daily average of around 1.4 million shares traded.

Mattel Inc. (MAT) dropped another 1.2% today to post a second consecutive 52-week low at $34.46 today. The toy maker had no news again today. Before yesterday’s new low, shares had posted their prior low on August 15th. The stock’s 52-week high is $47.94. Trading volume today is about 30% below the daily average of around 2.6 million shares.

Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc. (ARCO) dropped about 1.7% today to post a new 52-week low of $7.08. Volume is about double the daily average of around 600,000 shares. The company is the Latin American operator for McDonald’s Corp. (MCD) and was downgraded this morning at BofA/Merrill Lynch. The company’s 52-week high is $12.67.
