8 ways to ease your dog's anxiety during a thunderstorm
Just when we thought the warm weather might be here to stay, another storm is sweeping across much of the UK.
You might want to grab your rain coat as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of the UK today (Wednesday 19th June), with thunderstorms bringing torrential rain, hail and even lighting.
While some humans enjoy the cosiness a storm brings (when you're warm indoors), our pets can find them scary and frightening experiences.
Even before the first clap of thunder, many dogs can sense the arrival of a storm. Owners may begin to notice them pacing around, panting or clinging closely onto humans for affection.
Storms can commonly leave dogs fear-stricken and anxious, so be sure as owners you know just how to comfort them. The Dog's Trust has recommended their top tips to remember during stormy UK weather.

They may be scared and unsure, and will need reassurance from an owner
Keep an eye on your pet at all times
If the weather is getting worse outside, ensure they have a dry and safe shelter or are safe inside
If the storm is disrupting your dog's exercise routine, activities such as toys filled with food will give them some energy
If you are able to head out safely, always keep your dog on a lead in case they get scared by any sudden noises
Indoor games are also a great distraction from the stormy weather outside
If you are near an area that may flood, be aware that flood water could contain raw sewage, and might be contaminated
Keep you and your pet out of flooded areas as the water could contain dangerous toxins
