WASHINGTON, March 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Airlines for America (A4A), including CEOs from several U.S. passenger carriers, are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning with Vice President Mike Pence to discuss pragmatic, efficient solutions to assist the U.S. government in addressing the coronavirus health emergency.

"We commend President Trump's decisive action to appoint Vice President Pence to head the Administration's continued strong leadership during this public health crisis," said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. "We appreciate the opportunity to meet with the Vice President and his senior team to discuss with them pragmatic, effective solutions that further our shared goal of protecting the health, safety and well-being of travelers."

The health, safety and security of passengers and crew is – and always will be – the top priority of U.S. airlines, which is why the aviation industry has been engaged with the CDC, DOT, HHS and other federal agencies, since the early stages of this crisis. A4A has provided the U.S. government with solutions to help contain and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, even offering to pay for the implementation of a website and mobile app, which would be the quickest way to obtain verifiable and accurate contact data.

We look forward to a productive discussion and remain hopeful that the U.S. government will move forward with more effective contact tracing.

Annually, commercial aviation helps drive $1.7 trillion in U.S. economic activity and more than 10 million U.S. jobs. U.S. airlines fly 2.4 million passengers and more than 58,000 tons of cargo each day. Airlines for America (A4A) advocates on behalf of the American airline industry as a model of safety, customer service and environmental responsibility and as the indispensable network that drives our nation's economy and global competitiveness.

A4A works collaboratively with the airlines, labor, Congress, the Administration and other groups to improve aviation for the traveling and shipping public.
