An Abandoned Grocery Store in The Desert Was Just Turned Into a Luxury Hotel & Spa
This luxury desert hotel oasis will have you yearning to spend your summer days in the sand-but what you don't know is what this property actually was before it turned into this luxe destination. According to The Spaces, the steel structures were originally a clinic and a grocery store that were constructed in the 1960s-and since then, they've undergone a dramatic makeover to become the Al Faya Lodge and Spa.
Nestled at the foot of Mount Alvaah in the United Arab Emirates' Sharjah desert, the boutique hotel has incredible desert views-you might even spot some wild camels roaming around the property. Dubai-based architecture firm Anarchitect turned the former grocery store into the sandy paradise that it is today.
The property contains five luxurious bedrooms-each with its own skylight for nighttime stargazing-and also a saltwater pool, a library, a rooftop terrace, a dining room, and, of course, a spa.
