WAYNE, Pa. (AP) _ Aclaris Therapeutics Inc. (ACRS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $37.6 million in its first quarter.

The Wayne, Pennsylvania-based company said it had a loss of 91 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 80 cents per share.

The specialty pharmaceutical company posted revenue of $5 million in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.1 million.

Aclaris shares have declined 11% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $6.57, a fall of 64% in the last 12 months.
