Fresh off her 31st birthday, Adele is celebrating with some new real estate. The Grammy-winning singer recently purchased a new home just blocks away from her current Beverly Hills abode. According to Variety, she is the secret buyer who recently dropped $10.65 million for a stunning and unique five-bedroom, six-bathroom midcentury-style home located in an A-list enclave that counts Katy Perry, Jennifer Lawrence, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, and Ashton Kutcher among its residents.
The low-key home looks rather unassuming from the outside, with a plain exterior that includes a spacious motor court, a garage, and three broad steps leading up to the front door. Built in the early 1960s by architect Edwin Fields, the original building spanned just 2,400 square feet, but it was later expanded to a much more luxurious 6,045 square feet in the 1980s.
Inside the home is an airy, sunken living room with a wood-burning fireplace in one corner and an entire wall of glass doors that open out onto a tiled poolside patio. The supremely bright kitchen features a number of skylights and largely revolves around a granite-topped island. The wooden cabinets are a tad out of date, but the retro mint-green tiled backsplash adds a delightful bit of character to the room. A library elsewhere on the ground floor boasts an impressive collection of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that can hold approximately 2,000 volumes, with ample space for a lounge area.
Upstairs, the spacious master suite is the perfect place for calm respite. A welcoming modern fireplace anchors the space, which includes high ceilings, a sitting area, built-in display shelves, and a private terrace overlooking the backyard. The en suite bathroom is carpeted, with an elevated Jacuzzi-style deep-soaking tub and a marble-topped vanity that runs along two walls. The home also features a small art studio, a custom-fitted crafts room, a home office with large picture windows, and a carpeted fitness room. The backyard is a serene oasis, with a swimming pool and a large, well-kept green lawn.
Adele’s current home, which she picked up for $9.5 million in 2016, is similarly welcoming, though a tad more grand in appearance. It features four bedrooms and six bathrooms spread out over 6,597 square feet, and sits behind a high stone wall and a security gate.
