MONROVIA, Calif. (AP) _ AeroVironment Inc. (AVAV) on Tuesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $2.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Monrovia, California-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 34 cents per share.
The maker of unmanned aircrafts posted revenue of $53.2 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $50.7 million.
AeroVironment expects full-year earnings to be 20 cents to 35 cents per share, with revenue in the range of $260 million to $280 million.
AeroVironment shares have dropped 2.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $26.15, a decline of roughly 2 percent in the last 12 months.
