Investing.com — Buy now, pay later has arrived in the travel industry. Affirm Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:AFRM) announced Wednesday that it has partnered with American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) to provide payment flexibility for customers who want to pay for flights over time.

"While consumers are as eager as ever to get away, they remain conscious of fitting travel into their budget," said Silvija Martincevic, Affirm's chief commercial officer.

American Airlines customers will be able to split the cost of flight payments into $50 monthly payments by selecting Affirm at checkout.

Affirm said select customers will now see the Affirm payment option for eligible airfare at checkout on aa.com, with the option becoming more widely available to U.S. consumers in the upcoming weeks.

Affirm shares climbed 5.5% after the announcement.
