TORONTO (AP) _ Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $76.7 million.
The Toronto-based company said it had net income of 32 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 37 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 27 cents per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $683 million in the period.
Agnico shares have risen 34% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $54.10, a rise of 46% in the last 12 months.
