CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Agrium Inc. (AGU) on Tuesday reported a loss of $251 million in its third quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had a loss of $1.84. Losses, adjusted to account for discontinued operations and non-recurring costs, came to 23 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 1 cent per share.
The agricultural products and services company posted revenue of $2.38 billion in the period.
Agrium expects full-year earnings to be $4.65 to $4.80 per share.
Agrium shares have increased roughly 7 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $107.22, a climb of 16 percent in the last 12 months.
