Aircraft-related business agrees to buy part of former GM property near Willow Run Airport
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- An aircraft engine overhaul and maintenance business has agreed to buy part of a former General Motors Co. property in Michigan.
The Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response Trust announced Tuesday that International Turbine Industries is buying the former Willow Run Company Vehicle Operations facility for use in expanding its jet engine repair and parts sales business.
The RACER Trust says the expansion is expected to create 25 jobs over five years and include $50,000 in repairs and improvements to the 23,000-square-foot building.
Sale terms weren't disclosed.
The remainder of GM's former Willow Run property, consisting of more than 300 acres and a shuttered 5-million-square-foot manufacturing building, remains for sale. The RACER Trust took over sites around the country left behind in the bankruptcy of General Motors.
