Akamai partnering with AT&T

The Internet technology company and the telecom formed a partnership to deliver faster service to companies. Akamai Technologies (AKAM) is the top content delivery network service provider to media and entertainment companies. Its global network of computer servers stores copies of website content, bypassing traffic jams on busy Internet routes. AT&T (NYSE:T) said it will transfer its existing CDN operations, customers and service to the Akamai platform in '13. Akamai shares jumped 10%. AT&T fell 0.8%.
