The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 99 cents per share.
The kidney disease treatment developer posted revenue of $1.5 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $135.7 million, or $3.60 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.5 million.
Akebia Therapeutics shares have declined 1.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $10.25, an increase of 31 percent in the last 12 months.
