Alaska legislator proposes film tax credit repeal

Legislator proposes repeal of Alaska's film production tax credit

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) -- A co-chair of the House Finance Committee has proposed repealing Alaska's film production tax credit.

Rep. Bill Stoltze of Chugiak introduced HB112 on Monday. A sponsor statement was not immediately available, and Stoltze was not immediately available for comment.

The legislature last year passed a measure extending the film tax credit program.

A legislative audit report released last year, which looked at program performance issues, found Alaska's film tax-credit program has had a positive economic impact but does not pay for itself.
