ALERT: Multiple Hummus Products Sold at Walmart and Target Recalled

• House of Thaller is voluntarily recalling three brands of hummus products due to potential chemical contamination.

• Affected brands include Fresh Foods Market, Marketside and Lantana.

• These products are available at popular national retailers like Walmart and Target.

Hummus lovers, you may way to start making your own chickpea blend. House of Thaller is voluntarily recalling three brands of hummus topped with pine nuts sold at popular retailers like Walmart and Target, due to an ingredient that may be contaminated with an organism that can cause a Listeria infection.

The affected products include: Fresh Food Market's Artisan Hummus – Pine Nuts, Lantana White Bean Hummus with Pine Nut & Herb Topping and Marketside Classic Hummus with Pine Nuts. These items were distributed at stores across the United States between April 18, 2017 to June 13, 2017 and in Canada on April 20, 2017. The UPC numbers, expiration and lot codes of the recall can be found on the United State Food & Drug Administration's website.

The hummus products came in 10 ounce, clear, round plastic cups with a clear or colored plastic lids. Further description is as follows:

  • Fresh Foods Market Artisan Hummus, Pine Nuts – clear lid edge.

  • Lantana White Bean Hummus with Pine Nut & Herb Topping – white or beige striped lid edge.

  • Marketside Classic Hummus with Pine Nuts – solid black lid edge.

According to the USDA, Listeria monocytogene can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include: high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

No illnesses have been reported, but House of Thaller recommends that customers who have purchased any of the affect products to not consume them and to contact their customer service center at 855-215-5142 Monday thru Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM CST.
