BOSTON (AP) _ Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALXN) on Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of $330.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Boston-based company said it had profit of $1.47. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $2.02 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.75 per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $1.03 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.

Alexion expects full-year earnings in the range of $7.45 to $7.60 per share, with revenue in the range of $4.02 billion to $4.05 billion.

Alexion shares have risen roughly 3 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 2.5 percent. The stock has decreased 9 percent in the last 12 months.
