NORTHBROOK, Ill. (AP) _ Allstate Corp. (ALL) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $1.77 billion.
On a per-share basis, the Northbrook, Illinois-based company said it had profit of $5.23. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $3.13 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.12 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $11.47 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $10.77 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $4.85 billion, or $14.03 per share. Revenue was reported as $42.79 billion.
Allstate shares have risen nearly 7% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 2%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $119.95, a climb of 35% in the last 12 months.
