ST LOUIS (AP) _ Ameren Corp. (AEE) on Friday reported third-quarter profit of $288 million.
On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had profit of $1.18. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.24 per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.31 per share.
The utility posted revenue of $1.72 billion in the period.
Ameren expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.73 to $2.87 per share.
Ameren shares have climbed 19 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 15 percent. The stock has risen 28 percent in the last 12 months.
