American Assets Trust to join S&P SmallCap 600

NEW YORK (AP) -- S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC said Wednesday that American Assets Trust Inc. will be added to its S&P SmallCap 600 index, replacing Sourcefire Inc.

Sourcefire, a computer network security company, is being acquired by Cisco Sytems Inc.

The real estate investment trust will join the index after the close of trading Monday.

American Assets Trust, which is based in San Diego, owns, operates and develops retail and office properties.

The S&P SmallCap 600 is a stock market index made up of 600 companies that are valued between $300 million and $1.4 billion.
