Amerisafe: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

DERIDDER, La. (AP) _ Amerisafe Inc. (AMSF) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $17 million.

On a per-share basis, the Deridder, Louisiana-based company said it had profit of 88 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 92 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 73 cents per share.

The insurance provider posted revenue of $95.4 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $96.4 million, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $93.1 million.

Amerisafe shares have increased roughly 3 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $63.25, a rise of 9 percent in the last 12 months.
