RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (AP) _ Amphastar Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMPH) on Monday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $2.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Rancho Cucamonga, California-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 1 cent per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The specialty pharmaceutical company posted revenue of $63.5 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported net income of $10.5 million, or 22 cents per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $255.2 million.
Amphastar shares have decreased 20 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $14.74, a climb of 30 percent in the last 12 months.
