Amphenol: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Amphenol Corp. (APH) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $338.1 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Wallingford, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of $1.09. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.05 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 98 cents per share.

The maker of fiber-optic products posted revenue of $2.22 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.09 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.21 billion, or $3.85 per share. Revenue was reported as $8.2 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Amphenol expects its per-share earnings to range from 86 cents to 88 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.9 billion to $1.94 billion for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.96 billion.

Amphenol expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.88 to $3.96 per share, with revenue ranging from $8.19 billion to $8.35 billion.

Amphenol shares have increased slightly since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 5 percent. The stock has decreased 13 percent in the last 12 months.
