From Oprah Magazine

  • Amy Schumer announced her "first period in a year" with a series of beach selfies with her husband Chris Fischer.

  • The comedian also shared a new photo of her son, Gene Attell Fischer, captioned "cuz life."

  • Schumer's ultra-honest posts about her pregnancy and postpartum experience have sparked a mix of critical comments and praise from fellow moms.

Two things Amy Schumer wants you to know about her life right now: She's logging some beach time (jealous), and...she just got her first period since giving birth to baby Gene Attell Fischer on May 5. Yay?

"First period in a year," the comedian captioned a series of waterside selfies with her shirtless husband, Chris Fischer, in a July 14 Instagram post. Schumer added just about every red emoji option to boot, alongside the rain-covered umbrella and the female symbol, to keep it fun. As with her previous Instagram portraits of postpartum life, commenters had a mixed response to Schumer's unvarnished candor—including well-deserved kudos for standing bleeding in her new-mom truth.

"THE ONLY SOLUTION IS WEARING DEPENDS. Trust me," Grace and Frankie actress Brooklyn Decker commented.

"So stooooooooooooopid," Chelsea Handler joked, while RuPaul's Drag Race alum BenDeLaCreme simply wrote, "I love you."

Fellow moms weighed in with advice, including several warning Schumer that she was in the "Irish twin zone," referring to the (NOT Irish-specific) phenomenon of giving birth to babies 12 or less months apart.

High-profile parents from Chrissy Teigen to Andy Cohen are all too used to dealing with unwanted input from strangers who've got plenty to say about their parenting, and Schumer is no exception (there were also some eyeroll-worthy Shark Week jokes, given Schumer and Fischer's location in the pics). But the Snatched star continues to post updates that capture her new normal, from Gene's very first bath to stroller hikes in her disposable hospital underwear.

Schumer's honesty is appreciated by those who can relate—and those who cry "oversharing!" out of their own discomfort can, you know, not follow her.

"Stay real because what most of America posts is fiction!" cheered one such fan.

Prior to Gene's birth, Schumer was forced to reschedule standup comedy dates due to a difficult pregnancy in which she suffered near-constant nausea and vomiting because of a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum.

"I am in the hospital. I’m fine. Baby’s fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story," Schumer wrote on Instagram back in November 2018, in apology for a canceled show date. "I’ve been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows. Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bulls---t!"

In "celebrating" her period, Schumer may be understandably happy that her body is getting back to business as usual.

And speaking of Gene, Schumer also shared a new photo of her baby son in cozy gray-and-white-striped footie pajamas, posing with a little girl in a lemons-adorned dress.

"Cuz life," Schumer wrote. The mom-police couldn't leave her alone, even in this innocuous moment alone: "Why his head look like egg shape? Are you not turning him for it won't get like that," one stranger felt compelled to take time out of their day to comment.
