SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - September 17, 2013) - Ann Romney, wife of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, invites readers into her home and kitchen in The Romney Family Table: Sharing Home-Cooked Recipes and Favorite Traditions, on sale nationwide October 1, 2013 (Shadow Mountain Publishers, ISBN 978-1-60907-676-4, $29.99).
Family is paramount for the Romneys, and the heart of their home is the kitchen. The Romney Family Table is a unique blend of heartwarming stories, homegrown traditions, and 130 hearty recipes that have brought their family together for more than 40 years. While cooking for her husband, their five sons, five daughters-in-law, and 22 grandchildren has been rewarding, it has also been challenging. Ann candidly reveals some of the tips that have helped her along the way, as well as the stories behind many of her favorite recipes. This photo-filled book offers a peek inside Romney family life and the food that has become an essential part of those memories -- from her grandmother's Welsh Skillet Cakes (a traditional recipe that Ann has taught her own granddaughters to make), to "Fluffernutter" sandwiches for finicky eaters, and Governor Romney's favorite birthday meal, "Mitt's Meatloaf Cakes."
"This project has been such a joy because it has allowed me to collaborate with the whole family: My sons and daughters-in-law helped collect family recipes and pictures and the grandkids helped taste-test! The result is truly a work of love," said Ann Romney.
Besides being a way to bring her large family together, this book presents another opportunity: to help fund a cause that is dear to the Romneys. Having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998, Ann is donating her proceeds from book sales to the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston for the great work they do toward treatments and cures for neurological diseases.
