You're probably going to spend a ghostly amount this Halloween

With Halloween only a few weeks away, families are beginning to stock up on candy, put together their costumes and get their house in check for the holiday.

But all that prep doesn't come cheap. According to the leading savings destination RetailMeNot, it's estimated that people will spend around $62 per Halloween costume, and almost $43 on decorations and food just this year!

That's a lot of money to spend on just this one holiday.

RetailMeNot also found that on average, people from the West will spend the most money on costumes -- with an average of $74 -- while people in the North will spend the least, at $55.

But not everybody is buying costumes.

While nearly 53% of Americans will be buying Halloween costumes, Hispanic Americans, at 73%, are more likely than other groups to buy costumes. Furthermore, it's expected that only 48% of Caucasians will buy costumes, compared to the 55% of African Americans.
