Apple appeals China ruling

The consumer electronics giant is appealing a Chinese court ruling that ordered it to pay the Encyclopedia of China Publishing House about $82,670 for copyright infringement, according to Chinese press reports. The appeal is the latest in a series of rights disputes to hit Apple (AAPL) in China, where it's trying to boost sales of iPads and iPhones. In Oct., the same court heard a suit filed by eight Chinese writers on Apple's alleged sale of electronic versions of their books. Apple shares fell 1.1% to 536.88.
