Apple Snatches Samsung's Spot As The Top U.S. Phone Maker

Apple has passed Samsung to become the top U.S. mobile phone vendor last quarter, according to a new report from Strategy Analytics.

Apple shipped 17.7 million phones while Samsung only shipped 16.8 million in the U.S., according to the report.

Estimates suggest that 52 million mobile phones were shipped in the country during the fourth quarter of 2012.

This huge surge has secured the iPhone maker 34% market share due to strong iPhone 5.

Apple's shipments are up, the company only shipped 12.8 million in the same quarter the previous year where as Samsung shipped 13.5 million in the year-ago quarter.
