Argentina's inflation rate was 5.3% in June, below expectations
BUENOS AIRES, July 14 (Reuters) - Argentina's monthly inflation rate was 5.3% in June, the government's INDEC statistics agency said on Thursday, below analysts' forecasts for a 5.4% increase in consumer prices.
In the 12 months through June consumer prices hit 64.0%, even as the central bank hiked the benchmark interest rate by 300 basis points to 52% last month to tame spiraling inflation. (Reporting by Jorge Iorio; Writing by Carolina Pulice; Editing by Anthony Esposito)
