Ariana Grande Got a Shoulder-Length Haircut

Is this real life?!?·Teen Vogue

The day has finally come Arianators: Ariana Grande has bid farewell to her long brunette hair. Perhaps taking her own iconic song to heart, the pop star shared a selfie that showed her with shorter hair.

Ariana revealed the new shoulder-length haircut to fans on social media, sharing a selfie that had her wearing a bunny face filter. She captioned the image with no acknowledgment of the unexpected cut, only writing, "this filter took my eyebrows away but i promise they’re there." For the photograph, Ariana tucked one section of her freshly cut hair behind her hair. It's hard to tell based on the filter, but it appears as though the style features a side part.

Fans are naturally shocked by the major change, writing, "the ponytail. she’s crying. she’s hurting. BUT UR OUT HERE GLOWING" and "SHE SAID THANK U NEXT TO THE PONYTAIL YASSS GURLLL." One follower appropriately turned to Spongebob Squarepants, sharing an image of the animated sponge in shock.

While the cut might come as a surprise to fans (and everyone), Ariana hasn't been shy about changing up her hair in the post-Sweetener era. She was previously spotted with her hair down and she later tried out space buns with scrunchies. Just last week, she was on Instagram wearing a platinum blonde wig.

The pop star hasn't divulged what inspired the change, but she did say that the ponytail can be a headache. Her once signature style may have inspired Australia extension sales and saved the day in a Jimmy Fallon sketch, but Ariana admitted to Camila Cabello that the updo caused her "constant pain."

Ari's iconic style can always return with the help of extensions, but for now, we're happy to celebrate with her as she says "thank u, next," to her beauty routine.
