Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have reportedly called off their engagement according to a new report from TMZ.

On Sunday (October 14), TMZ reported that the Sweetener artist and Saturday Night Live performer called it quits over the weekend, with sources saying that Ariana and Pete believe it "simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off." Although they will no longer be romantically involved, they apparently "still have love for each other."

The two have been one of the most buzzed about couples of 2018, as soon as they were first spotted hanging out in May. Ariana and Pete did not shy away from posting about each other on social media, including when Pete shared a photo of them wearing Hogwarts robes along with the caption, "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened."

Throughout the summer, their PDA only intensified, they even got matching tattoos, and Ariana named a track after Pete on her most recent album. Rumors of a possible engagement began during mid-June, and Pete confirmed the speculation in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. They stepped out on the red carpet for the first time as a couple at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards in August. An official wedding date was never announced, but fans noticed in early October that Pete apparently covered up his Dangerous Woman-inspired tattoo.

It's important to take the news of Ariana and Pete's split with a grain of salt. Neither of the stars have spoken out about the rumored split (as of Sunday evening, neither have posted to social media). And ultimately, it's important to respect Ariana and Pete's privacy. While they're celebrities and are in the public eye, they're also people who don’t owe us any information about their personal lives.
