Arizona unemployment rate remains flat at 7.9 percent in March; private sector adds jobs

PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona's unemployment rate for March remained flat at 7.9 percent, above the national rate of 7.6 percent but below the state's rate of 8.4 percent a year earlier.

The Department of Administration reports that the private sector added nearly 18,000 jobs in March while government lost 1,300 jobs.

The biggest job gain was seen in the leisure and hospitality sector, with 7,100 additional jobs.

Overall, eight of the 11 economic sectors added jobs while one was flat and two lost jobs.
