Arrest of ex-Mexico defense minister shows corruption in past govt, president says

MEXICO CITY, Oct 16 (Reuters) - The arrest of former Mexican Defense Minister Salvador Cienfuegos in Los Angeles on Thursday shows the degree to which corruption had permeated the past government, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Friday.

Speaking at a regular news conference, Lopez Obrador pledged to suspend anyone inside his government found to be implicated in the charges leveled against Cienfuegos. (Reporting by Dave Graham and Frank Jack Daniel)
