MAHWAH, N.J. (AP) _ Ascena Retail Group Inc. (ASNA) on Thursday reported a loss of $71.5 million in its fiscal second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Mahwah, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 36 cents. Losses, adjusted for restructuring costs and non-recurring costs, came to 26 cents per share.
The owner of clothing retail chains posted revenue of $1.69 billion in the period.
For the current quarter ending in May, Ascena Retail expects its results to range from a loss of 45 cents per share to a loss of 35 cents per share.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.43 billion to $1.46 billion for the fiscal third quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.7 billion.
In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $1.89. A year ago, they were trading at $2.02.
