SINGAPORE, Aug. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Crypto Never Sleeps '19 brings Singapore's top undergraduates together to analyse the potential of Asia's cryptocurrency markets. The Asia Cryptoasset Research Hackathon aims to give 300 university students an exhilarating and fast-paced learning experience.
The event is organized by DigiFinex, a crypto exchange headquartered in Singapore, as part of their education and social outreach efforts. To attract top talent and to give back to the community, DigiFinex is putting up a whole Bitcoin to be won (approx. US$12,000).
The first of its kind challenge takes place on 11 and 12 Sep, and will be hosted by CoinDesk as part of Invest: Asia 2019, at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. CoinDesk, the world's leading crypto news publication, is one of the most valuable media brands in the space.

Students will get to attend investment workshops held by industry experts and explore the dynamic expo floor of the conference. Finalists will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges comprised of movers and shakers in the space, such as professionals from CoinMarketCap and asset management firm BitCross.

Singapore is home to the best universities in Asia, with the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University ranking 11th and 12th globally. Exchange students spending the semester in Singapore are entering the competition too.

Singapore has a strong reputation as a fintech hub, and regulators have adopted a friendly stance towards crypto. For example, the government is experimenting with its own interbank payment blockchain project, and fully supports education in blockchain courses, subsidizing as much as 100% of fees for citizens.
