VICTORIA, British Columbia (AP) _ Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AUPH) on Tuesday reported a loss of $12.4 million in its first quarter.

The Victoria, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 14 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 16 cents per share.

The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for a loss of 16 cents per share.

The biotechnology company posted revenue of $30,000 in the period.

Aurinia shares have declined 11% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $6.06, a drop of roughly 3% in the last 12 months.
