The Victoria, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 19 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 16 cents per share.
The biotechnology company posted revenue of $290,000 in the period, beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $53,000.
Aurinia shares have risen 20 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $5.45, a decline of slightly more than 8 percent in the last 12 months.
