Author Reflects on Love, Intimacy, Loss, and Self-Actualization in Debut Collection of Poetry

In 'A Life's Tapestry,' Patricia Stanway delivers evocative glimpses into her life's journey and provides readers with a comforting respite

BROMONT, Quebec, Sept. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Patricia Stanway has published her debut collection of thought-provoking poetry that traverses a spectrum of emotions to explore topics like love, intimacy, aging, loss, healing, and spirituality. In "A Life's Tapestry," Stanway delivers raw and evocative insights that will stir readers' senses, melt their hearts, and meet them where they are in life's highs and lows.

Stanway originally composed many of the poems in the book from 1979 through the late 80s. Each piece brings to life the images and events of her childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, and experiences as a young wife and mother. "A Life's Tapestry" examines complex lived experiences that range from appreciating the beauty of flowers to questioning death and facing one's mortality. Stanway's work ultimately illuminates her quest to understand herself and the world around her and reflects on the woman she has become today.

"For me, poetry is a vehicle for self-reflection and honesty," Stanway said. "I want others to know that, even when the world is not kind, we are not alone, and we can heal and change. As we all experience the trials of life, it is so important to know that each of us is unique, and we are all deserving of love, compassion, and understanding."

Also included in Stanway's collection are six poems she originally wrote for a poetry competition about a small village in North Wales named Capel Celyn that was tragically flooded and washed away in the mid-60s. Stanway wrote this set of poems to honor the hardship and despair the Welsh people endured because of this devastating event.

Deeply introspective and vulnerable, "A Life's Tapestry" meets readers where they are and provides a comforting and relatable respite for those who feel lost, alone, or at a crossroads in their identity and sense of self.

"The thoughts and sentiments expressed in Ms. Stanway's poetry are truly beautiful and so much of what she writes resonates with me," a reader wrote in a five-star review of the book on Amazon. "… These intimate poems of her life's journey will have you thinking of moments in your own life, with the realization that we are not alone in facing these experiences in our own pilgrimage through time. A beautiful read!"
