REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 24, 2013) - Rajat Paharia, widely recognized as the father of gamification, will join a panel of fellow visionaries on April 30 for a special breakfast meeting of the Churchill Club, Silicon Valley's premier business and technology forum.
In a panel conversation titled "The Gamification of Everything," Paharia and other experts will explore how applying game mechanics to non-game environments can help companies shape the behaviors of critical audiences in ways that strengthen brands, increase revenues and improve loyalty. Companies around the world use proven gamification techniques to attract and keep customers, encourage employees to work smarter and collaborate better, and motivate social communities to share and participate more. Paharia will be joined by Patrick Salyer, CEO, Gigya, and Jim Whitehead, chair of the Computer Science Dept. UC Santa Cruz, and founder and president of the Society for the Advancement of the Science of Digital Games, in the discussion moderated by David Fetherstonhaugh, behavioral economist at IDEO.
Paharia is founder and chief product officer of Bunchball, the pioneer and market leader in gamification, and is the author of a forthcoming book from McGraw-Hill: Loyalty 3.0: How to Revolutionize Customer and Employee Engagement with Big Data and Gamification.
"Having Rajat Paharia, the widely acknowledged father of gamification, join our panel of esteemed experts will add valuable perspectives to the conversation that only Rajat can contribute," said Churchill Club CEO Karen Tucker. "He is uniquely qualified to speak meaningfully about this trend and the opportunities it represents for innovation, economic growth and societal benefit."
Bing Gordon of Kleiner Perkins predicted last year that gamification would see explosive growth within five years. Additionally, Gartner predicted that by 2015, 40 percent of Fortune 1000 companies would use gamification as the primary mechanism to transform business operations. In the April 30 panel, Paharia will describe how as technology continues to transform business processes, innovative companies are leveraging big data and the tenets of motivational science to employ gamification techniques that result in greater participation, sharing, collaboration, learning and achievement.
