Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay Gives a Surprising Wedding Update

Rachel Lindsay’s wedding vision has changed. The former Bachelorette shared a wedding update this week following her engagement to Bryan Abasolo in 2017. While initially, Lindsay said she wanted a winter wedding sooner than later, she eventually toyed with the possibility of ABC broadcasting her wedding on live television.

“I have to confess that I was very much so an eager beaver when everything started because that’s what I wanted,” she told E! News this week. “I wanted to marry Bryan at the end of 2018. That was all very real, but that’s also when I thought that we were going to get an ABC wedding and that’s not looking like it’s happening now.”

Instead, the Dallas-based attorney and the chiropractor will be planning their wedding from start to finish. “Now I actually have to plan a wedding or hire somebody to help me do that,” she explained. “So now that that’s happening, it’s putting everything on hold.”

Lindsay, for now, wants a small wedding held sometime next year. “I’m condensing it,” she continued. “I want to get married. I want to get married to the person I want to spend the rest of my life with so I’m about having a small wedding. I’m going to hurt a lot of feelings, but to selflessly get what it is that I want.”

The former reality personality previously opened up to The Knot about her ideal wedding. “I want it to have all of both of our families and I want both of our cultures celebrated,” Lindsay mused. “I’m mixed race and he’s Colombian, and I want all of our cultures to be celebrated.”

Abasolo and Lindsay’s relationship was documented on national television in summer 2017, and it culminated with the season lead departing with her runner-up, Peter Kraus, in a dramatic fashion partially due to his inability to propose. Abasolo, however, was the recipient of her first impression rose and the two were very much compatible—something that still stands a year and a half later.

“With Bryan, I think it’s the communication and it’s the intimacy that we have,” she said. “And that we bring out the best in each other. Bryan can bring out a side of me that nobody else has seen and it’s crazy that I met this person on TV and he can do that for me.”
