BancorpSouth: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) _ BancorpSouth Bank (BXS) on Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of $66.7 million.

The Tupelo, Mississippi-based bank said it had earnings of 67 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 56 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 56 cents per share.

The bank posted revenue of $234.8 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $213.8 million, which fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $216.9 million.

BancorpSouth shares have decreased roughly 2 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $30.85, a decrease of 2 percent in the last 12 months.
