BancorpSouth names Rollins as new CEO

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) -- BancorpSouth named James Rollins III as its new CEO on Monday.

The 53-year-old Rollins will succeed Aubrey Patterson, who announced in May that he planned to retire. Patterson will remain chairman at the regional bank. He took over as CEO in 1990, and as chairman a year later.

Rollins, who had been president and chief operating officer for Prosperity Bancshares Inc., will also become a board member at BancorpSouth as well.

BancorpSouth Inc., based in Tupelo, Miss., runs about 293 commercial banking, mortgage, insurance, trust and broker/dealer locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.
